KOFIC and TIFFCOM Support Korean film

The Korean Film Council (KOFIC, chairman: KIM Eui-suk) will install the Korean Pavilion at the Tokyo International Film Festival Content Market (TIFFCOM) 2012 and start supporting Korean film sales and arrangement of contracts for technical parts such as VFX on October 23rd. They will also hold ‘Ko-Production in Tokyo’, an occasion for Korean-Japanese co-production project pitching and meeting, and publicize ‘Location Incentive’.

The Korean Pavilion at the TIFFCOM has invited 7 overseas sales companies including CJ Entertainment this year. Besides, technical service providers including Moneff, Next Visual Studio and Wavelab are aiming at promotion to Japanese film market through the TIFFCOM. The KOFIC has participated in the TIFFCOM in the form of national pavilion since 2010 and at the third time this year, they organized the biggest scale ever with a total of 11 companies.

KIM Gyeong-man, general manager of the market made a prediction saying, “Since the scale has gradually grown so far, we are expecting to see good results this year. It is going to be an important chance particularly for technical service providers like VFX or SFX companies to meet people related to Japanese film market.”

Along with the market, ‘Ko-Production in Tokyo’, which has been established as a representative event where Korean directors and producers can meet Japanese production partners, will take place. The 5 project to be presented at the market are Love History(producer OH Jung-wan, Bom Film Productions Co., Ltd.), Pianist of Northland(director KIM Young-nam, Contents7), JL 351, This is Pyongyang airport!!(producer LEE Kyung Hee, Nr.Lee’s Entertainment), The last Princess(director HUR Jin-ho, Daisy Entertainment) and Blood of the killers(director LEE Young-mi, Film Front). Expectations are growing high expecially for this year because they are going to enhance individual business meeting to aim at support for actual co-production.

In addition, the KOFIC will hold ‘Shoot in Korea’, a reception for publication of ‘Location Incentive’ and exchange between Korea and Japan on October 24th. About 80 people working at Japanese film circle have already expressed the intention to attend at the party, which shows how high their interest in ‘Location Incentive’ and co-production with Korea is.
