To Meet the World of Love, Fantasy and Adventure Anytime, Anywhere
The 21st edition of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) kicked off last week, continuing its aim to be the Asian representative hub for genre films. Under the slogan “A Film Festival Remembered for its Films”, the festival offers a wide variety of programs for audiences, from children and families to cult film fans who prefer extreme, taboo challenging movies.
This year’s online screening lineup includes JEON Kyu-hwan’s Bucheon Choice feature film, THE END, a story about a man becoming a murderer from delusion, LEE Yoon-ki’s Oneday about an encounter between a man and woman at a hospital, SHIM Chan-yang’s Behind the Dark Night about a movie viewing club that decides to make a low-budget superhero film, and from the Korean Fantastic section LEE Yong-sun’s I’ll Just Live in Bando which highlights the irrationalities of university professor culture. Also available are BAE Hyo-min’s Shooting Girls about the challenge of a girls’ middle school soccer team as well as a lot more unique and characteristic short films from the Family Zone section.
This year’s Festival Screening: BiFan 2017 started on June 24th on the KoBiz Online Screening’s website (screening.koreanfilm.or.kr).
