Born in 1986, LEE Yong-sun graduated from Chungkang College of Cultural Industries. He made his first animated short, <Alone>, in 2010, soon followed by <Trying to remember> in 2011 which was screened at Indieforum and PiFan. After his third short, disappointed by the reception of his movies, he thought of giving up on animation altogether but resolved to give it one last try in a different graphic style with <Toilet Concours> (2015). The film eventually won the Audience Award and the Independent Walk Award at the Indie-AniFest, encouraging him to take advantage of the momentum and start a long feature project. As he adopted a shorter and more practical production model inspired by YEON Sang-ho’s, it took him only 2 years to complete production on <I’ll Just Live in Bando> (2017). The film was invited to the Annecy International Animated Film Festival as well as the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, and also won Best Feature Film for Grown-ups at the Trebon Anifilm in Czech Republic. LEE is also part-time instructor at ChungKang College of Culture Industries.
