SHIM Dalgi, born in 1999, has always been immersed in the performing arts, both her parents being themselves stage actors and having produced all together their own small plays since she was in elementary school. It was however as a director that she started her film career, having presented the short <Subconscious and Area> (2016) at the Seoul International women’s Film Festival. Her first screen appearance came two years later when she played the titular character in <Dong-a> (2018), the Korean Short Competition Grand Prize winner that year at the Jeonju International Film Festival. It was also for that film that Shim also received a Special Mention from the Jury at the Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival. She was next seen in the Netflix anthology film <Persona> (2019), playing against IU in Jeon Gowoon’s segment titled <Kiss Burn>, as well as in the courtroom drama <Juror 8> (2018), in which she played the daughter of the defendant. After a minor role in the romance <Tune in for Love> (2019), she starred alongside Bang Minah in the critically acclaimed indie drama film <SNOWBALL> (2021).
