Born in 1975, Park Myeonghoon initially wanted to be an actor but had to settle for a political science major after failing the entrance exam for the theatre and film department. After his 2-year long mandatory military service interrupted his studies, he took on a part-time job as a bill poster for a theater in Daehangno, Seoul’s theatre district, and worked his way through the ranks until he walked on stage in 1999 to perform the Korean play <Classic>. Following an already impressive career in theater, he moved to cinema in 2014 with the indie favorite <Alive> (2014). This was followed by appearances in two independent films, in <Steel Flower> (2015) with a supporting part, and in <Ash Flower> as part of the main cast. PARK had the difficult honor of being a pivotal character in <PARASITE> whose mere existence constituted a spoiler in itself, which prevented him from joining the rest of the cast when they climbed the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival ahead of the premiere. It did, however, make his performance all the more memorable to the unsuspecting audience.
