Born in 1992, KIM Ga-hee first took an interest in acting when she was a child, as she would often make good impressions of actors she would see on TV. Although she failed to enter a theater and film college, she instead joined a theater club in the Incheon region and spent several months learning acting techniques and rehearsing. She got a few roles in short movies through casting calls she found online, and even got to perform in Daehangno, Seoul’s famous theatre district. Her first big role was in a production of <Poil de carotte>, in which she played the titular character. After her screen debut in the short <Heavy Shot> (2012), she landed her first lead role in another short, LEE Hwan’s <Home> (2013), after going through no less than five auditions. When the director decided to turn it into a feature-length film, <Park Hwa-young> (2017), KIM naturally reprised her role. This time, however, she underwent a dramatic body transformation by gaining more than 15 Kg in 4 months. This was not done in vain, as she picked up Best New Actress from the Korean Association of Film.
