Born in 1989, LEE Hak-joo studied directing at the theatre and film department of Hanyang University. LEE wanted to be a film director or producer, but with acting lessons being part of the curriculum as a way to provide a better understanding of a director’s job, he also got the opportunity to stand before the camera. While doing his mandatory military service, he realized that this was what he wanted to do in his life. After he debuted in <Bapdeongi> (2012), a short movie from a close friend and classmate, he was cast as the lead in <12th Assistant Deacon> (2014), which was later turned into a long-feature to become the surprise hit occult mystery film <The Priests>, with GANG Dong-won taking over LEE’s role. First noticed when he starred in the romantic TV series <Oh My Ghost (2015)>, which also marked his first television appearance, he landed a supporting role in the thriller <INSANE> (2015), led by KANG Ye-won. After more supporting roles in <Marionette> (2018) and <THE NEGOTIATION> (2018), LEE was promoted to leading role for another thriller, <Watching> (2019), reuniting with KANG.
