Lee Junggon is an up-and-coming indie film director. Born in 1989, he first went to Kyunghee University to major in Art & Design but eventually resigned in 2011 and entered the Korea Art Conservatory. After his graduation in 2014, he was admitted to the Korea Academy of Film Arts. His graduation film, the short <The Distance Between Us> (2016) was selected in the Wide Angle section of the Busan International Film Festival. After serving as assistant director on Lee Yoonki’s <Oneday> (2017), he was selected to be first assistant director on Ahn Juyoung’s KAFA-produced debut feature <A Boy and Sungreen> (2018). A fan of baseball, his feature debut <Not Out> revolves around a high school student who struggles to be drafted into a professional baseball team. The film won three awards at the Jeonju International Film Festival, including the CGV Arthouse and the Watcha’s Pick. Lee is currently working on a TV series for Korea-based video streaming service Waave.
