She continued to make short movies, until she was admitted into the Korea National University of the Arts. Her short <Mrs. Young> (2014) won Best Short at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, and after her graduation in 2015, she made two other shorts, <The Cover Letter> (2016) and <It’s a visiting day> (2016). While preparing her debut feature project, she took part in the script for the comedy <CHEER UP, MR. LEE> (2019). Based on her own childhood, her first feature <20th Century Girl> was produced by Netflix. First presented at the Busan International Film Festival, it debuted a couple of weeks later on the streaming service, entering the global top 10 almost instantly.
