Just a few years later, she made her official debut in TV series <Ice Adonis> (2012), soon followed by a minor role in the film <Happiness for Sale> (2012). She went on to appear in soap opera <Samsaengi> (2013) and the indie anthology <Futureless Things> (2013). In 2016, she landed her first leading role, in the short <Tombstone Refugee>, as well as another major part in the anthology <Horror Stories III>. After a dubbing stint for <Frozen>, she was picked by the Wachowski to play BAE Doona’s character in flashbacks in Netflix series <Sense8> (2015-2017). She then got a supporting role in the popular comedy-drama <I Can Speak> (2017), before assuming the lead role in indie feature <Adulthood> (2017). The director, KIM In-seon, remembers her saying on their first meeting that if she wanted to play this character of a precocious teenager who must take care of her irresponsible uncle, it was because she disliked playing a child or someone’s daughter. Her performance made an impression on the jury of the Baeksang Arts Awards, which bestowed her with their Best New Actress trophy, at the young age of 15.
