Kwon Yul, born Kwon Sein in 1982, majored in theatre and film from Chung-Ang University and started his acting career on stage before making a first screen appearance in 2007 in a commercial. Later that year, he made his official screen actor debut as part of the main cast of <Mackerel Run> (2007), but the show was eventually cancelled before the end of its run. In 2008, he received his first film credit for a supporting role in <Beastie Boys> (2008). Later that year, after moving to another agency, he was advised to use a stage name, Kwon Yul. He is best known for his starring roles in the soap opera <Angel’s Revenge> (2014) and the blockbuster war epic film <Roaring Currents> (2013), in which he played the son of the celebrated admiral Yi Sunshin. Kwon also appeared in the hit romcom series <Let’s Eat 2> (2015) and the critically praised indie film <Worst Woman> (2016), as well as the historical drama film <Anarchist from the colony> (2017). In 2017, he starred in the sports drama <Champion>, playing against Don Lee (aka Ma Dongseok), and received praises for his performance as a lawyer in the drama series <Whisper> (2017).
