Born in 1982, JEONG Da-hee studied visual communication at Hongik University, before moving to Paris in 2008 to get a Master’s degree in Animation at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Her graduation film, <The Hours of Tree> (2012), competed at the Short Shorts Film Festival and later received the Grand Prize from the Indie-Anifest in 2013. Invited by the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, France to its international artist residency for animated films in 2013, JEONG made <Man on the Chair> (2014), produced by Sacrebleu Productions with support from the CJ Culture Foundation. The film, which shows a man unable to rise from his chair who proceeds to question the fabric of his existence, proved an enormous success, winning the Crystal Award for Best Short Film at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, as well as the Special International Jury Prize at the Hiroshima International Animation Film Festival. It also enjoyed a long festival run, screening in Cannes among others. Her latest short, <Movements> (2019), was first presented at the Jeonju International Film Festival and went on to be featured in many festivals around the world, including Annecy and the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes, and even won the Grand Prix at Indie-AniFest and the Excellence Award at the Bucheon International Animation Festival.Less
