Born in 1988, Han Seungyeon, also known by her mononym Seungyeon, was the former main vocalist of the K-pop girl band Kara and is now active as an actor. Long before she made her official debut, however, she could be seen as an extra in the series <Under the Sky of Seoul> (1996) and <A Wish Upon a Star> (1997). After a few years studying in the US, she came back to Korea with the dream of becoming a K-pop idol. She trained for more than a year, until she was noticed by the manager of a talent agency and eventually signed a contract. Han debuted with the group in March 2007. As the band grew popular, she received invitations to participate in several TV show, either as a part of the cast, as in reality TV show <I Need a Family>, or as the host, such as in <I Love Pet>. Although she never completed high school, she passed the College Scholastic Ability Test and entered Kyunghee University in theater and film. After she released her first solo single in 2012, she received the next year her first important acting roles in the series <A Bit of Love> and <Jang Ok-jung, Living by Love>. Kara eventually disbanded in 2016 when Seungyeong, along with other members, decided not to renew their contracts. Her move to another agency marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career, this time revolving around acting. In July of that same year, she joined the main cast of the critically acclaimed young adult drama series <Hello, My Twenties!> (2016-2017), starring alongside Han Yeri, which remains at this moment her best well-known credit. She then appeared in the fantasy drama series <About Time> (2018) and was offered the lead role in the drama series <Twelve Nights> (2018). After several years honing her acting skills on television, she finally received her first film credit, and for a leading role at that, in the indie horror comedy <Show Me the Ghost> (2021). Her performance won her a Special Mention of the Jury at the Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival.
