CHO Yong-seok began his VFX career at Mofac Studio in the early 2000s. Training and specializing in 2D effects and composition, he participated in various genre films including <2009 Lost Memories> (2001), <Volcano High School> (2001) and <Jungle Juice> (2003) among others. As VFX supervisor, he contributed to KANG Woo-suk’s action thriller <Hanbando> (2006), CHO Dong-oh’s fantasy drama <The Restless> (2006) and Director AHN Pan-seok’s drama about a North Korean defector <Over the Border> (2006). However, CHO points out Director CHOI Dong-hoon’s much acclaimed second feature <Tazza: The High Rollers> (2006) as his most memorable work in the year. Although the post production schedule was very tight, CHO enjoyed smooth communication with CHOI from its pre-production. CHO collaborated again with Director CHOI for <Woochi> (2009), which has also remained as an impressive work for him. In terms of VFX, the film was quite challenging as it presented numerous digital characters that were not common in the Korean film industry. Going through a period of transition at another VFX studio, MIX, CHO joined LEE Jeon-hyoung’s 4th Creative Party in 2009 and worked on <Thirst> (2009) and <Mother> (2009) as the Digital Production Supervisor. As one of the key talents at 4th Creative Party, he also took responsibilities for Director RYOO Seung-wan’s spy thriller <The Berlin File> (2012) and Director YOON Jong-bin’s historical action <KUNDO : Age of the Rampant> (2014). For more than 1,300 CG shots of KUNDO, CHO tried to put more dramatic perfection in the CG work by connecting different types of locations.
