Having majored in stage art, KIM Bo-muk first joined the art department of <Dance With Solitude> (2003) and served further in such capacities on <Forbidden Quest> (2006) and <Herb> (2006), before receiving his first credit as art director on E J-yong’s mockumentary <The Actresses> (2009). As art director, he has also notably participated in <LOVE, LIES> (2015), which recreated 1940s Korea under the Japanese Occupation, as well as the critically acclaimed <The Truth Beneath> (2015) and the Cannes-invited thriller <The Merciless> (2016). His first assignment as production designer came in 2018, for <Bleak Night> director YOON Sung-hyun’s sophomore project <Hunting Time(literal title)> (2018), but <Tazza: One Eyed Jack> (2019), the third title in the Tazza series, was the first to release in Korean theaters, and thus the first to show LEE’s work in this new role.
