Choi Gwihwa, born in 1978, started his acting career in 1997 when he joined Meulmye Theatre Company in Bucheon. After honing his acting skills since 1999 with a large number of short movies, he landed his first role in a long feature film in <On The Way Home> (2009), as a minor character. His roles became more important starting with <Runway Cop> (2012), but it was on television that he received his breakthrough role, playing a deputy chief in the cult hit series <Misaeng: Incomplete Life> (2014) which explored in a satirical way the everyday life in a typical Korean office environment. Now a much sought-after actor to play supporting roles, Choi has been very busy since 2014, with notable appearances in <TRAIN TO BUSAN> (2016), <THE WAILING> (2016) and <A Taxi Driver> (2017). His scene-stealing performance as a police chief in Ma Dongseok vehicle <THE OUTLAWS> (2017) led him to be awarded Best New Actor by the Korea Film Director’s Network. He was next seen playing a bakery owner in the soap opera <My Golden Life> (2017-2018).
