Park Jiwan, born in 1981, majored in visual communication at Ehwa University. One of her first jobs was in the marketing department of Bom Film Productions, where she worked on such films as <You Are My Sunshine> (2005). In 2006, she directed her first short film, <Pillow Talk> (2006), and in 2007 she decided to put to the test everything she learned on the job by entering the Korean Academy of Film Arts. After her graduation project, the short <High School Girls>, won Best Asian Short at the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival in 2008, she started to work on the set as a script supervisor for <Castaway on the Moon> (2008) and <Haunters> (2010), while writing screenplays of her own and filming short films in her free time. Her feature debut <THE DAY I DIED : UNCLOSED CASE>, starring Kim Hyesoo and Lee Jungeun, came out in 2020 and earned her Best New Director from the Blue Dragon Film Awards and Best Film Screenplay from the Baeksang Arts Awards.
