He also appeared in the international film <Ninja Assassin> in 2009, playing opposite superstar Rain. His pop star debut was also in 2009, when the group MBLAQ was announced later in the year. The band quickly became one of the top names in the Korean pop scene. Alongside his singing duties, LEE continued to perform in TV dramas and later made his feature film leading man debut in SHIN Yeon-shick’s drama <Rough Play>, in which he played a young star who rises to the top, only to come crashing down. The film debuted at the Busan International Film Festival in 2013 and then earned him the Best New Actor prize from the 1st edition of the Wildflower Film Awards Korea. where he was also nominated for Best Actor. In addition, he received Best New Actor nominations from the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards and the 23rd Buil Film Awards. Since then, he has become one of the most in demand TV drama stars, featuring in popular titles such as <Pinocchio> and <Heard It Through the Grapevine> in 2015, for which he received Excellence Awards from the 8th Korea Drama Awards and the 4th APAN Star Awards.
