Following that he quickly built his performance CV with numerous parts across both the big and small screen. He appeared in many roles, featuring in films such as the art heist thriller <Insadong Scandal> (2009), the cop thriller <Secret> (2009), the period romance <The Servant> (2010), KIM Jee-woon’s serial killer chiller <I Saw the Devil> (2010) and stretched out into the indie features with HONG Sang-soo’s <Oki’s Movie>, also in 2010. He started garnering bigger roles in mainstream fare, such as in the 2012 horror romcom <Spellbound>, the revenge thriller <Azooma> and a lead role in the indie drama <Choked>. He then received the Performance Award from the Daegu Short Film Festival for <Forest> in 2012. He then featured in the lead of the Korean Academy of Film Arts title <INGtoogi: The Battle of Internet Trolls> in 2013. He continued to get lead roles, appearing in the spy thriller <Commitment> (2013), the Cannes-invited female gangster thriller <Coin Locker Girl> (which earned him a few nominations as Best Supporting Actor come awards time), RYOO Seung-wan’s smash hit action-thriller <Veteran>, the legal thriller <The Unfair> (all 2015) and KIM Jee-woon’s Colonial Era action-thriller <The Age of Shadows>.
