KIM I-jung served in various capacities in the Korean film investment and planning department of film studio Showbox since 2003, working on the budgets for <TaeGukGi: Brotherhood Of War> (2004), <Marathon> (2005), <Welcome To Dongmakgol> (2005), <The Host> (2006), <The Chaser> (2008), and <I Saw The Devil> (2010). After close to ten years of experience in mainstream cinema, she left the company and took part in the promotion of historical drama <Jiseul> (2012). She later joined CGV Movie Collage (now CGV Arthouse), the CJ E&M branch dedicated to the financing and distribution of small-budget Korean movies, and even made her debut as a producer with road movie documentary <Lazy Hitchhikers' Tour De Europe> (2013). In 2013, she founded the film production company OAL with her colleague at CGV Movie Collage KIM Yoon-mi and co-produced <INSANE> (2016), which they managed to make a success (1 million admissions) despite the lack of celebrities and the rating limiting it to mature audience. As a result, she won in 2016 Best Production at the Women in Film Awards.
