A first-generation Korea film music director, LEE Dong-joon has composed music for many of the Korean-style blockbusters, such as Phantom, the Submarine, The Soul Guardians, Swiri, Libera Me, 2009 Lost Memories, Tae-guk-gi, and most recently 71-Into The Fire(2010). He focuses on flowing music with Asian lyrical beauty over dynamic scenes by using the synthesizer as the base, and orchestra, chorus, and folk instrument. Dramatic music that appeals to the audiences emotions is his main style. He started drawing attention for his work on The Gingko Bed(1996) in which he used Korean traditional instruments such as gayageum and flute to express Korean sense of sadness and lyricism. This was the turning point in the history of Korea film music, as the work became more specialized. He also worked on [LEE Chang-dong]s feature debut, Green Fish(1996), and the cult SF comedy Save the Green Planet. But he is well known for his commercial orientation in film music. He directed music for the blockbuster TV drama Iris(2009) and has ventured into game music.
