KIM Jee-yong is an image architect who transcend historical periods and nationality. He shot <The Influence> (2010), a digital movie directed by LEE Jae-kyu of the TV dramas <Damo> and <The Beethoven Virus>, and starring LEE Byung-hun. KIM's representative work is his feature film cinematography. His work for <A Bittersweet Life> (2005) by KIM Jee-woon prominently boasted cinematography of a high degree of finish that experimented with different camera techniques. The image of night that seemed like a borderless space in the movie was praised for realizing images of Korean-style film noir. Later in the same year, KIM filmed <Forbidden Quest>, a movie about a Chosun-era aristocrat lured into the world of lewd novels. In this KIM Dae-woo movie, KIM again presented modern images that transcend historical periods and nationality. In <Hansel and Gretel> (2007), he created a strangely beautiful and yet nightmarish imagery in a display of his penchant for matching the background with unbalanced images. In 2018, KIM earned a plenty of cinematography awards internationally - Asian Film Awards, Chunsa Film Festival, and Camerimage International Film Festival to name a few - with his work for <The Fortress>. Successively, in 2019, he earned another recognition for his cinematography in <Swing Kids>, receiving Best Cinematography award in The Blue Dragon Awards.
