Han Jimin, who was born in 1982, got her start in the entertainment industry at a young age, her PE instructor in middle school recommending her to his brother-in-law who had a talent agency, and so she appeared in her first commercial in 1998. Since was careful not to let her modelling stints impede on her education, she only took part in a few magazine covers, commercials, and music videos until she completed high school. A few years later, in 2003, she made her acting debut with minor roles in the hit series <All In> and <Dae Jang Geum>, and she later earned notice with her performance in the sensational hit series <Resurrection> (2005). Her first role on the big screen came in 2005 as well, in <Blue Swallow>. A frequent presence on screen as a series star, TV host and movie star, Han quickly became one of the most popular actresses in Korea. She appeared in the films <Cadaver> (2007) and <Detective K: Secret of the Virtuous Widow> (2010), but she really broke out as a silver screen actress in 2014, following her starring roles in the romcom <The Plan Man> (2013) alongside Jung Jaeyoung and the period potboiler <The Fatal Encounter> (2014) with Hyun Bin. Han’s next appearance was in <Salut d’Amour> (2014), the first drama from blockbuster helmer Kang Jekyu. She then reunited with her <The Fatal Encounter> co-star Hyun Bin in the series <Hyde, Jekyll, Me> in 2015 before playing a Korean independence fighter in Kim Jeewoon’s critically acclaimed <The Age of Shadows> (2016). In 2017, Han finally managed to break away from the manic pixie dream girl and femme fatale roles by taking top-billing in <Miss Baek> (2017), playing an ex-convict who tries to run away from her past until she meets a young victim of domestic violence. Her performance received outstanding acclaim from critics and audiences alike, and Han ultimately swept the award season, picking up Best Actress Awards at the Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards among others. Following receiving the female lead role in the romantic drama series <A Familiar Wife> (2018) and <One Spring Night> (2019), she came back to the big screen with <Josée> (2020), the Korean film adaptation of the Japanese novel <Josee, the Tiger and the Fish>, best known for the 2003 Japanese film. She recently scored another hit with the drama series <Our Blues> (2022).
