CHOI Pyeong-ho joined SidusFNH as an executive director in October 2008 to lead investment and distribution, and got promoted to the position of chief executive in May 2009. He invested in and distributed <The Housemaid> by IM Sang-soo. While the previous co-CEOs TCHA Sung-jai and KIM Mi-hee put the company’s main focus on the production of Korean films, CHOI put more emphasis on investment and distribution in coordination with their mother company KT. While working for CJ Entertainment for over 10 years, he managed various areas of the entertainment business and played a critical role in changing the environment of the Korean movie industry. He boosted overseas business by putting an overseas team in SidusFNH and also invested in an Asian omnibus film, <Camellia>. With its distribution capability strengthened, SidusFNH also distributed foreign movies. It aslo invested in and distributed <Showdown> and <Countdown> in 2011. He resigned from the company in March 2011, but came back to the industry in January 2013 as the Head of the global investment department of Sovik Venture Capital. Aiming at the advancement of Korean films into the global market, the company is currently managing a USD 10.8 million global contents fund. In April 2013, the company changed its name to Union Investment, and has invested in <Mr. Go> and <Snowpiercer>. It also invested in Japanese director Kazuaki Kiriya’s <The Last Knights>, a Korea-US joint production action film starring Morgan Freeman and Clive Owen. Korean actors AHN Sung-ki and PARK Si-yeon are also cast in the film.
