CHOI Chan-min is a young experimentalist who came to fore after the mid-2000s. He attempted to realize the colors of Korea in a war blockbuster by using lenses with new filters and shutter opening angles and high-speed cameras in 71-Into The Fire(2010), a war film that was dubbed as the second Tae-guk-gi. He made his cinematographic debut with Camel(s)(2001) in his mid-20s and has worked on a variety of genres such as A Millionaire's First Love, Femme Fatale, and Big Bang(2007). The car chase scenes in Big Bang was shot in Busan for a week by blocking off the streets right in the middle of the city, which was until then the biggest of such street filming. CHOI also experiments with unmanned flying cameras to shoot Namdaemun, Gwanghwamun, and other symbolic structures of Seoul. He is also skilled in filming historical movies such as Private Eye(2009). He recently shot Heartbeat(2010), starring [KIM Yun-jin] and [PARK Hae-il], in full hand-held.
