JO Won-hee, also known as Owen CHO, graduated from Kyungsung University in theatre and film before starting a career in journalism. Having notably worked for monthly pop culture magazine Box, as editor-in-chief, but also for film webzine Nkino and weekly film magazine Cinebus, he gained wider recognition by appearing on TV shows <Cinema World> for MBC and <O-Cine> for OCN. He would keep working in television, writing scripts for <Saturday Movie Expedition> on KBS and <Let’s Go Video Travel> on MBC. Following a first experience in fiction writing with <Ani Franceska> (2005), the animation film adaptation of popular black comedy TV series <Hello Franceska> (2005-2006), he eventually jumped into the director’s chair in 2009 to helm along with his friend and former schoolmate KIM Sang-hwa the thriller <Enemy At The Dead End>, based on his own scenario. After doing screenwriting job on drama film <The Magician> (2015), he was reunited with his friend Don LEE (a.k.a. MA Dong-seok), with whom he had already worked on the short <Showtime!> (2011), to make his sophomore feature, the comedy <Wonderful Ghost> (2018).
