Born in 1919. Graduated from an academy of music in Japan, he debuted as a pianist in 1942. After Korean War, he ran a photo studio. In 1957, he made his own film studio to direct and shoot Hwang Jin-Iby himself. Then he showed a remarkable talent for depicting conflicts between generations in melodrama. His filmography includes A Way of a Body(1959), The Body Confession(1964), and The Eternal Motherhood(1968).
