As the developer of <200 Pounds Beauty> and a director at Showbox, JUNG Tae-sung led the production of many films such as <Welcome to Dongmakgol> by PARK Kwang-hyun, <D-Wars> and <The Host>. His command of various foreign languages, including English, Chinese, and Japanese makes him particularly suited to overseas business and he subsequently expanded the overseas operations of Showbox. During the mid-1990s, he led the establishment of Dongsoong Art Center, an art film theatre. Working as a producer of <Spring in My Hometown> by LEE Kwang-mo, he created an art film boom. Working as a chief commissioner of the Pusan Promotion Plan(PPP) of the Busan International Film Festival for six years, he promoted PPP overseas. After founding Genesis Pictures with WON Dong-yeon, he produced <The Wolf Returns> and developed <200 Pounds Beauty>. Then he joined Showbox as a director in charge of Motion 101, a production specialty arm of Showbox. He left Showbox to set up the production company Sky Walker Films and developed <Hand to Hand>, a new SF fantasy by PARK Kwang-hyun. JUNG then joined CJ E&M’s Film Division as the president of International Sales and Distribution and finally was appointed as the Head of the Film Division in June 2012. During the later half of the year, he made the company management run smoothly with the remarkable success of films released in that time such as <Deranged>, <A Werewolf Boy>, and <Masquerade>, which crossed the 10 million admissions mark. As the head of the company, JUNG’s main goal is to raise the percentage of international business up to 50% by 2017. In 2013, the company has and will present several films targeting the international market. Among them are Korean director OH Ki-hwan’s Chinese language melodrama A Wedding Invitation which topped the Chinese box office during its opening weekend; K-pop star BoA is starring in <Make Your Move 3D> and <Never Forever> director Gina KIM’s new English language film <Final Recipe>, starring Michelle YEOH.
