JANG Hyun-sung, who was noted for his resemblance to SEOL Kyung-gu during the early stages of his career, was a leading actor in the theatre company ‘Hak-Jeon’ that produced many successful actors such as SEOL Kyung-gu, HWANG Jung-min, and CHO Seung-woo. Following his consistent performances he took on roles in the movies <Nabi-The Butterfly>, <Survival Game>, and <A Man Watching Video>, and was further acknowledged as a serious actor. He is a chameleon-like performer who can take on any character. Among his most notable roles for the subsequent decade of his career were SONG Il-gon’s mystery thriller <Spider Forest> (2004), experimental one take film <Magicians> (2005), SONG Hae-sung’s <Maundy Thursday> (2006) and JANG Joon-hwan’s directorial comeback <Hwayi: A Monster Boy> in 2013. Returning to indie fare, he next appeared in MIN Byun-hun’s <Love Never Fails>, selected for the Busan International Film Festival, as an absent father whose family falls apart. In early 2015, he had a supporting part as a radio DJ in the music biopic <C’est si bon>.
