IM Ju-hwan, born in 1982, took his first steps in acting when he joined the theatre group of his high school studied, with which he would win in 2000 the Best Performance Award at the Youth Theater Festival. After graduation, he was enrolled at Daejin University in the theatre and film school and joined a talent agency that would help him make his official debut as an actor but also as a model. He first appeared in 2003 with a minor role in high school sitcom <Nonstop 3>, before landing his first film role in the romantic comedy <A Millionaire’s First Love> (2006). He was first noticed for his portrayal of a blind painter in TV series <Auction House> (2007), but the commercial failure of both his movies dampened film producers’ enthusiasm to cast him. His first leading role came in 2009 with the rom-com series <Tamra, the Island> (2009), taking place in the 17th century against the backdrop of Korea’s first contact with Western nations. He then took the lead role in the musical school series <What’s Up> (2011-2012), created by screenwriter SONG Ji-na of <Sandglass> fame, before appearing in a supporting part in black comedy film <Suspicious Customers> (2011). After his 2 years of mandatory military service, he made his comeback as the main protagonist of drama series <Ugly Alert> (2013). After a first role as a villain in heist film <The Con Artists> (2014), his career took off again by starring in several high-profile series, such as <Uncontrollaby Fond> (2016) and <The Bride of Habaek> (2017).
