Born in 1971, SONG Il-kook graduated first from Cheonju and then from Chungang University with a Bachelors and Masters in Fine Arts and is the grandson of KIM Jwa-jin, a famous Korean independence movement general. He began his career as a performer on the small screen in the late 1990s. Following award-winning turns in popular dramas such as <Terms of Endearment> and <Emperor of the Sea>, SONG made his feature debut in the horror film <Red Eye> in 2005. The same year, he appeared alongside SON Ye-jin in the romantic comedy <The Art of Seduction>. Continuing work on television and also as a model, it wasn’t until 2014 when he returned to films, appearing in LEE Don-ku’s indie family drama <Entangled>, which debuted at the Busan International Film Festival. In 2015, he was seen in both the romantic comedy <Fly High> and the thriller <Tattooist> as a murderer.
