Born in Korea, Jae has lived abroad for 30 years until his return to Korea in 1995. He teaches film at Seoul Institute of the Arts and makes films in his spare time. In 2012, his directorial debut premiered at the Dallas International Film Festival, and went on to screen at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. Let Me Out (2013), which followed a film student attempting to shoot a zombie film, also secured US distribution.
