Born in 1969, PARK Jung-woo debuted in 1991 as the first assistant director on CHUNG Ji-young’s <Beyond The Mountain>. After contributing to the script of <I Wish For What Is Forbidden To Me> (1994), he focused his career on screenwriting and worked as such on several box office hits like <Attack The Gas Station> (1999), <Kick the Moon> (2001), <Break Out> (2002), and <Jail Breakers> (2002), the latter of which earned him a Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Screenplay. He also remained active as a first AD, with LEE Chang-dong’s <Oasis> (2002) being his most notable credit. Having impressed audiences with the sharp-witted criticism of society found in his scripts and established himself as a “bankable” screenwriter, he jumped into the director’s chair in 2004 with the melodrama film <Dance With The Wind>. His following project <Big Bang> (2007) was all about the deviation from the established norms and overwhelming social rules. He came back five years later with the thriller <Deranged> (2012), the first film on a disease outbreak to be made in Korea, which became a hit with 4.5 million tickets sold.
