Park Byungeun, born in 1977, majored in drama at Chung-Ang University before debuting in 2000 with a minor role in the TV series <Mr. Duke>. After other bit roles in the comedy <Sex Is Zero> (2002), the thriller <Princess Aurora> (2005), and Park Chanwook’s quirky rom-com <I’m a Cyborg, but That’s OK> (2006), he finally received his first major role in 2008, in the drama film <The Pit And The Pendulum> (2008). After more than a decade playing minor roles, his breakthrough came with the smash hit period action film <Assassination> (2015), in which he played a Japanese lieutenant who inadvertently ends up engaged to a Korean resistant. His impressive performance earned him a lot of praise, and soon after he signed a contract with a management company. His roles have since then become more frequent, and he notably landed his first leading role in the film <ONE-LINE> (2016). He has managed to successfully diversify his roles recently by starring in the rom-com TV series <Because This is My First Life> (2017) and in the historical war epic <The Great Battle> (2018). He could later be seen in <Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage> (2018) and the sci-fi drama <SEOBOK> (2019), but it was his appearances in the third season of crime thriller series <Voice> (2019) and the second season of the Netflix series <Kingdom> (2020) that were the most commented. In 2022, he was back on the big screen starring alongside Choi Minshik in the drama <In Our Prime> (2022).
