Born in 1965, PARK Gok-ji was studying film at Kyungsung University, in Busan, when in 1987 her professor (and future director of Busan film festival) LEE Yong-kwan arranged for her to work as a script supervisor on the set of Im Kwon-taek’s <Prince Yeonsan‘s Life> and <Adada>. On the invitation of PARK Soon-duk, a film editor she met while working together on <Adada>, she joined his editing studio the following year and became his first assistant. After gaining a lot of experience in this field, she opened in 1994 her own editing studio Min Film. <Deep Scratch>, the first film on which she worked under her new company, allowed her to win Best New Technician at the Grand Bell Awards. She would later win more Grand Bells for Best Editing for <The Contact>, <Swiri> and <Champion>. In 1999, a Master’s degree in film production from Chung-Ang University was added to her curriculum, and she applied her newfound knowledge in 2006 by producing <The Railroad>, with her husband PARK Heung-sik as the director. Throughout her career, she has contributed to more than hundred movies, including <Seopyeonje>, <The Gingko Bed>, <Failan>, <TaeGukGi: Brotherhood Of War>, <Pandora>, <The Truth Beneath>, HONG Sang-soo’s <The Day A Pig Fell Into A Well>, and KIM Ki-duk’s <Crocodile>.
