KIM Hae-won is a film graduate of Chung-Ang University, but it is as an indie folk songwriter and musician that he made his name. He gained wider recognition through the folk duo he formed in 2013 with KIM Sawol, with their first EP Secret winning the awards for Best Newcomers and Best Folk Album at the Korean Music Awards in 2015. KIM Hae-won made his debut as a film composer with the indie <Shuttlecock> (2013), for which he not only composed but also played and recorded the soundtrack. He later contributed to <Socialphobia> (2014), <Elephant in the Room> (2015) and <For Vagina’s Sake> (2017), and also released a solo album in 2018, but his most well-known work remains the music he composed for the indie drama <Moonlit Winter> (2019), which received the award for Best Music from the Korean Association of Film Critics.
