KIM Tae-woo's acting style is not intense or vehement. He touches the audience’s hearts in a subtle and quiet manner. He always completely dissolved into the roles he play and into the films. This is why he was not remembered by many audiences although he appeared in several box office hits such as <The Contact> and <Joint Security Area/JSA>. He always supports the actors playing opposite to perform their best. It seemed that he was good at playing the character overshadowed by others. KIM had his major break appearing in director [HONG Sangsoo]'s <Woman Is the Future of Man>, where he started to stand out. KIM became one of the favorite choices as a leading man by director [HONG Sangsoo]. Appearing in <Woman on the Beach> and <Like You Know It All> by HONG, he deftly portrayed an ordinary man's ordinary everyday life. His acting repertoire is getting richer. He was not gravitated toward mainstream box-office draws. Instead, he appeared in the sensitive teen films such as <L'Abri> and <Don't Look Back>, <Kitchen>, the unique thriller <Epitaph>, and <Sa-kwa>, an on-screen melodrama film filled with realism. Straddling a healthy balance between the indie and mainstream realms, KIM went on to appear in David CHO’s romance <The Winter of the Year Was Warm> (2012) and his follow-up <Santa Barbara> (2014). He also starred in the smash hit swashbuckler <The Pirates> in 2014, as well as the period action film <Memories of the Sword>, which experienced some delays before being revealed in 2015.
