Born in 1965, KIM Eui-sung graduated from Seoul National University in 1988, following which he landed his first part in JANG Sun-woo’s classic <The Age of Success>. Following the small part, KIM was mostly active on stage, though he also appeared in some TV shows. He found himself back on the big screen in 1995 but most fortunate was his casting in HONG Sangsoo’s debut <The Day a Pig Fell into a Well>. It would not be his last. In 1997 he was one of the stars of both <Barricade> and the early KWAK Kyung-taek film <3PM Paradise Bath House>. In the year 2000 he put his acting career on hold and went to work for management company Willstar Entertainment, from which he would only return in 2011 for HONG’s <The Day He Arrives>. Very active since then, he has appeared in other HONG films such as <Nobody’s Daughter Haewon> (2012) and <Hill of Freedom> (2014). While also successfully navigating a career in commercial cinema, he appeared in a variety of diverse genre films in memorable roles, such as a professor in <Architecture 101> (2012), a national security officer in <The Suspect> (2013), a journalist in <Tabloid Truth> (2014), a detective in <Big Match> (2014) and an imprisoned gangster in The Deal (2015). His next role was as a company many in the mystery murder thriller <Office>, which was invited as a Midnight Screening at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015.
