Born in 1967, KIM Sung-ryoung majored in computer sciences before learning acting at Kyung Hee University, and later marketing. She first appeared in 1988 as a contestant of Miss Korea, which she eventually won. This prompted public broadcaster KBS to select her as the female co-host of entertainment news show Weekly Entertainment, a role she would assume until the end of 1989. Three years later, she made her acting debut by signing on for the lead role in KANG Woo-suk’s <Who Saw The Dragon’s Toenail?> (1991), in which she played against AHN Sung-ki. Her performance didn’t go unnoticed, far from it, as she received a Grand Bell Award as well as a Baeksang Arts Award for Best New Actress. Since then, she remained mostly active on the smaller screen, with a large number of TV series. Since 2012, she has been enjoying a new surge in popularity owing to her leading role in the TV series <The Chaser> (2012). This has made her more present in cinema as well, taking the lead in <The Target> (2014) and <The Fatal Encounter> (2014), on top of a supporting role in <Keys to the Heart> (2017). She made another strong impression with her performance as part of the main cast in <Believer> (2017).
