KIM Sae-ron is in her early teens yet, her acting has energy and strength that matches that of grown-ups. Her first movie appearance was in <A Brand New Life> directed by the French-Korean filmmaker Ounie LECOMTE who recounted her childhood memory as an adoptee. The movie made news as director LEE Chang-dong took part in the movie as a producer. She played an abandoned girl in an orphanage who still remembered the warmth of her father’s back. Even though she was under the age of ten at the time of filming, she won kudos for her portrayal of a young girl who longed for someone and happiness. She then gained popularity by co-starring with WON Bin in <The Man from Nowhere>, the mega hit of 2010. She played a little girl who had a neglectful mother and built bonding with her misanthropic next-door neighbor, WON Bin’s character. She believably portrayed a little girl who did not lose her childlike quality even when she became a prey to a deadly crime ring. She won best new actress awards from reputable film festivals in Korea and overseas, proving her potential as an actress. After playing a character similar to one from <The Man from Nowhere> in <I Am Father>, KIM starred in Lee Sang-woo’s <Barbie> along with her younger sister KIM A-ron. This film had its world premiere at the 16th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). She impressed audiences and critics again with her dual role in the ensemble thriller <Neighbors> in 2012. She next appeared alongside MOON So-ri in the documentary <Manshin: Ten Thousand Spirits> by PARK Chan-kyong. She featured in reconstructions as the young version of shamanist KIM Geum-hwa. In 2014 she starred alongside Doona BAE in <A Girl at My Door>, which was produced by LEE Chang-dong and invited to the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. Following a number of awards nominations for that role, and a Best New Actress accolade from the Blue Dragon Film Awards, she next played a kidnapped sister in the horror-thriller <Manhole>, alongside JUNG Yu-Mi.
