KIM Byung-jung, born in 1972, first worked in machinery design before suddenly falling in love with movies. He entered the Korea National University of Arts in cinematography in 1999 before making his debut in the camera department of <Raising My Dad> (2003) and <3-Iron> (2004). In 2004, the short <Save My Earth> (2005), which he directed, won Best Picture in the 4000 Blows competition (for action and thriller films) of the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival. After stints as camera operator on <A Bloody Aria> (2006), <Mapado 2: Back To The Island> (2007) and <Wide Awake> (2007), he received his first credit as a director of photography in <Café Seoul> (2009). His second work in such capacity, <All Bark, No Bite> (2012), earned him one of the newcomer trophies handed out at the Korea Gold Awards in 2014, and he later cemented his status when he picked up the Bronze Trophy at the same awards ceremony three years later for his work on the fantasy mystery film <Alone> (2016). He has continued to be particularly active on the indie scene, with titles such as <The Land of Seonghye> (2018), <BEYOND THE MOUNTAIN> (2019) and <Ensemble> (2019).
