GANG Hye-jung is a unique figure in her own sphere. Her first film role was in <Nabi-The Butterfly>, for which she won the best actress award at the [Pucheon International Fantastic Film Festival], aka PiFan. Following the triumphant debut, GANG enchanted a number of movie directors with her exotic beauty and appeared as a seductive heroine in a film work with renowned director [PARK Chan-wook]. She is not a typical girl next door. Sometimes she looks angry about the world and other people, and such rebellious image was put to great use in [PARK Chan-wook]’s <Old Boy>, which won the Grand Prix of Jury Prize in Cannes. In the film, she played Mido, an assistant sushi chef, who took care of OH Daesoo ([CHOI Min-sik]) after knowing his 15 years of confinement. Following her impressive performance in <Old Boy>, GANG was reborn as a character actress. She was cast for a role, an internship teacher playing innocent in Rules of Dating and a nutty but sweet girl Yeoil in <Welcome to Dongmakgol>. She is one of the few actresses successfully portray the two contrast characters, the good and the evil. GANG got a name "character actress" although she is still at her 20s and she really deserves the name as it has been proven in her lead role in <On the Way Home>. Following some smaller films and TV work, GANG took part in E J-yong’s mockumentary <Behind the Camera>, which debuted at the Busan International Film Festival in 2013, before appearing in the family comedy <How to Steal a Dog>, based on a book by Barbara O’Connor, in 2014. She was back in the mainstream business when she was cast in the techno-thriller <Lucid Dream>, alongside SUL Kyung-gu and KO Soo.
