Director [CHANG Hun] discovered two exquisite actors KANG Ji-hwan and [SO Ji-sub] to star in his first film <Rough Cut>. SO appeared primarily in TV hit dramas since his debut and KANG was a new face on screen despite five years of acting career. KANG was a gift to the Korean film industry, which longed for the advent of another up-and-comer. In <Rough Cut>, KANG played Soota, a belligerent, hot-tempered action star taking the fight scenes too seriously on the set and beat his opposite man during the shoot. The shooting is put on hold due to the assault and Soota asks Gangpae ([SO Ji-sub]), a real gangster, to play his opposite. Soota and Gangpae’s fight is not staged, but done for real. The two actors completely threw themselves into the roles and did not shy away from the intense scuffle to make one of the best action scenes in the Korean film history. KANG turned to a mellow and sweet beloved appearing in <My Girlfriend Is an Agent> and <Oh My Venus>. KANG next appeared in the fashion world-set investigative comedy <Runway Cop> (2012). In 2015, KANG starred in <Heartbreak Hotel>, a crime film shot entirely in the United States.
