Sang-doo is also charmed by Hee-ju's self-confidence and refusal to back down to anyone. Sang-doo decides to win her heart, buying her expensive cars and gifts. Ultimately, he discovers that she just wants him to be himself. The two fall in love, spending more time together. But Sang-doo soon realizes that their relationship places Hee-ju in danger, and so he tries in vain to end it. When a power struggle leads him to kill a subordinate which his faithful friend takes the blame, Sang-doo decides to turn himself in.
