ZOA FILMS is a film production and distribution company founded in 2011 by LEE Eun-gyeong, with the proclaimed aim of creating films “that stay with us longer than popcorn”. LEE having worked for several years as a production coordinator between Korea and Japan, it was only natural that her company would distribute Japanese films and would be involved in a few co-productions with Japan, among them sexy comedy <AV Idol> (2012) and horror film <A Record of Sweet Murder> (2014). In 2017, ZOA FILMS produced the family drama <Notebook from my Mother> and <Butterfly Sleep>, with the latter being another Japan-Korea co-production that notably marked the return to fiction films of acclaimed indie director JEONG Jae-eun.
