Dec 26, 2011
South Korean action comedy starring KO Hyun-jung, <Miss Conspirator> wrapped shooting Dec. 15. Directed by PARK Chul-kwan, whose gangsters-and-monks comedy <Hi, Dharma> was a hit in 2002, the film is due for release in the first half of 2012.
A highly respected and popular actress in Korea, Ko Hyun-jung is well-known from her TV series roles and performances in internationally-travelled films such as HONG Sang-soo’s<Woman on the Beach> and <Like You Know It All> as well as E J-yong’s<The Actresses>.
In her most recent role in <Miss Conspirator>, Ko stars as a woman suffering from panic attacks that gets mixed up in the middle of a drug deal set up by the country’s largest criminal organization while the police are chasing after them.
The film’s last shoot took place in a warehouse in Tae-an. Co-stars YOO Hae-jin and LEE Mun-sik faced off in an intense action scene they shot without stunt doubles. The two are familiar faces as character actors from films such as RYOO Seung-wan’s<The Unjust> (Yoo) and LEE Joon-ik’s<Battlefield Heros> (Lee).
Up-and-coming international sales company 9ers Entertainment announced at the recent American Film Market (AFM) that it pre-sold <Miss Conspirator> to Thailand’s STG.
Next Entertainment World, better known as N.E.W., is releasing the film in South Korea. The Top 3 distributor has also recently invested in and released films such as <Late Blossom>, <Hello Ghost>, <Blind> and <Poongsan>.
