“I like Korean films that deal with Korean history!”
- You have been appointed as the KMS Ambassador. I met quite a number of Chinese students at the launching ceremony today. In fact I noticed 242 Chinese students among the total number of 421 members. At a time when relationships between Korea and China are improving, it is an honor to be appointed as ambassador for a group such as this. It holds great meaning for me as it is the first opportunity to serve as an ambassador since I came to Korea. It’s a chance of a lifetime.
- Is there a Korean film you personally like? I like films that deal with Korean history. I personally liked
TaeGukGi: Brotherhood of War starring
WON Bin, and I enjoyed
Roaring Currents which I watched not so long ago. I understood a certain part of Korean history through film and it was interesting for me to learn about the political state and relationship between Korea and China of that particular era. I was especially intrigued by the differing viewpoints from what I was taught in school in China.
- With the Korea-China FTA greenlit, Korea-China co-production projects are on the rise. As a person who loves both Korean and Chinese films, are there any co-production projects you would like to see in the future?
I like the films of
PARK Chan-wook who directed
Old Boy. This may be a little off the wall, but I’d like to see an action film directed by PARK Chan-wook starring Jet LI and Jackie CHAN. There is a unique sensibility in PARK Chan-wook’s films, and I am curious of the kind of synergy that will explode when such sensibility meets the world-renown martial art of Kung Fu.
- What do your activities entail as KMS Ambassador?
As a group of young students each responsible for Korea and China’s future with whom I will share these experiences with, I am also curious myself about what activities it’ll involve. I heard special screenings of Korean films for foreigners will be offered on a frequent basis, and I hope to attend the screenings of amazing Korean films with the K-Movie Supporters.
