Soo-jung (MOON Chae-won) takes a KTX train in the early morning for a business trip to Busan. Her neighboring passenger Jae-hyun (YOO Yeon-seok) hits on her saying dumb things, falling for her fatal charm. He wants to sleep with her tonight, which he makes clear. Unlike ever so liberal Jae-hyun who is not at all serious about having a relationship, Soo-jung is a romanticist who has been with a man for the last 10 years, and is tired of it as it is finally coming to an end. She is puzzled by Jae-hyun’s move but does not hesitate to reject him. However, they have to spend the day together in Busan, due to unexpected circumstances.

Mood of the Day is the first commercial feature film by CHO Kyu-jang, who previously made an independent film A Camel Doesn't Leave Desert (2009). Mood of the Day takes the standard formula of a romantic comedy where a couple with different perspectives on love is attracted to each other but at the same time suffers from conflicts due to the difference in point of view.

However, the real charm of this film is the eye-pleasures, rather than such conflicts, or laughs and heart-throbbing moments caused by those conflicts. YOO and MOON are cute just like the characters in an animation movie, and the famous places in Busan they visit, including Seonamsa Temple, make the film almost like a travel guide for an ideal date. Just like the title, what stands out in this romantic comedy is the mood.
