Chad STAHELSKI and Derek KOLSTAD, the director and writer duo behind the hit John Wick action franchise, are reportedly teaming up again for New Line Cinema to develop an American version of the modern Korean action classic The Man from Nowhere (2010).STAHELSKI is set to produce the remake with Jason SPITZ, his partner at 87Eleven Entertainment. CJ ENM, which released the original, is also on board to produce. KOLSTAD is attached as a writer and has already delivered a completed script. Sources suggest that executives will now meet with potential directors as STAHELSKI will not take on that role for this project. STAHELSKI will next direct a remake of Highlander for Lionsgate, also under his banner 87Eleven Entertainment.The John Wick franchise currently counts three films, which have grossed a combined USD 326 million at the global box office. A fourth and fifth instalment will be filmed consecutively next year, while a spin-off titled Ballerina is also in development.The top-grossing Korean film of 2010, with over seven million viewers (USD 42 million), The Man from Nowhere (2010) starred WON Bin as a reclusive pawnshop owner whose dark past comes to light when his neighbor’s daughter, played by a young KIM Sae-ron, is kidnapped by an organ trafficking ring. The film was directed by LEE Jeong-beom, who most recently helmed the detective action-thriller Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage (2019) for Warner Bros Korea, which is being serviced internationally by Netflix.
