  • Megan FOX Arrives in Korea for Role in Korean War Epic
  • by Pierce Conran /  Jan 10, 2019
  • Hollywood Star Plays Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist Marguerite HIGGINS

Hollywood star Megan FOX arrived in Korea on January 6 for her part in the Korean War film Jangsari 9.15 (Korean title), in which she plays real-life Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Marguerite HIGGINS. It is her fourth trip to the country.

Jangsari 9.15 is being co-directed by veteran filmmaker KWAK Kyung-taek (Friend, 2001) and KIM Tae-hoon, who is known for his special effects work on several Korean blockbusters and for directing the second season of the hit Korean action series Iris. Featuring in the lead role is KIM Myung-min of Deranged (2012) and Pandora (2016). FOX will play HIGGINS, who was a correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune during the Korean War and became the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Foreign Correspondence, following her coverage of the Korean War in 1951.

Known for her roles in the first two Transformers films, which were extremely popular in Korea, as well as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboots, FOX is currently filming her role at the Namyangju Studios in Gyeonggi Province, where production on the film is currently underway. Her part will take six shooting days to complete and she is scheduled to return to America in mid-January. During her time in Korea she also took the opportunity to meet with American servicemen stationed in the country.

Other international stars who have participated in recent Korean films include Liam NEESON as General Douglas MACARTHUR in the hit Korean War action-drama Operation Chromite (2016), which was produced by TAEWON ENTERTAINMENT, and Thomas KRETSCHMANN, who played the German reporter Jürgen HINZPETER in 2017’s smash political drama A Taxi Driver.
